Through participation in Generations for Peace inaugural Amman Peace Talks, we hope to positively impact youth development in Grand Crossing.
"We are excited to be a part of this and cannot wait to see how these proven techniques can benefit our communities in the U.S." said Samuels.
Ayoka Mota Samuels, Youth Center Director, shared her story with participants from around the world at the Amman Peace Talks in Jordan on October 20, 2019. Her experience facing challenges related to racial conflicts in Chicago and her passion for helping youth to address conflict in peaceful ways inspired the audience. Samuels learned about ethnic and religious conflicts around the globe to inform youth development programs at GCYC.
The Peace Talks provided an opportunity for attendees to develop bonds with one another as they studied best practices for building peace within their own communities. Peace builders bring their unique experiences facing conflicts in places such as Syria, Ghana and Ireland and work together to develop strategies to strengthen communities.
