Holiday Card Design Contest Reveals Artistic Talent

Comer teens from the Visual and Cultural Arts Program competed in a holiday card design contest and everyone was a winner! The project was the vision of Liz Thompson and The Cleveland Avenue Foundation for Education (The CAFE). After a landscape scan of arts programs around the city, The CAFE selected the Comer Visual and Cultural Arts Program, funded in part by After School Matters, as the collaborative partner for the venture to design a holiday card for reproduction and use by The CAFE this holiday season. Teen participants were asked to express what the holidays mean to them. Each student hand drew, painted and designed a card with the guidance of teaching artist, Daria Amerik.

The winner, Let it Snow, Let it Slay by 16 year old Angela Mathews, was chosen as this year's greeting card for The CAFE. In addition, a limited number of box sets featuring all 16 cards will be for sale at Jinglefest, our annual holiday celebration at the Youth Center after school on Tuesday December 17, 2019.
