Teen Apprentice Zion Kinnison on her Culinary Career Pathway

During the Francie Comer Culinary Arts dedication event, our Lead Culinary Apprentice, Zion Kinnison and Chef M.C. Williams provided an engaging cooking demonstration of one of Mrs. Comer's favorite recipes, Italian Sausage & Peppers. The redesigned kitchen and related culinary arts programming enables us to continue training young people like 18 year-old Zion for the workforce by providing career pathways into the food service, hospitality, related fields and beyond. Currently a senior in high school, Zion has been accepted to attend Georgia State University this fall. Her dream is to run her own kitchen in a fabulous hotel one day.

Each year, we educate over 175 young culinary artists introducing them to various career options while providing valuable skills such as communication, project planning, task management and others they can apply in any field of study or work they pursue. We are currently hiring a new crew of apprentices who will begin their culinary adventures with GCYC this summer.

Enjoy this short video interview with Zion about the impact of her apprenticeship at GCYC and her future culinary aspirations.
